Currently the President of Blue Water Benefits Consulting, Ruthann also serves on the Legislative Council for the National Association of Health Underwriters. Ruthann's career in employer benefits spans 37 years working from both the consulting side of benefits and the employers' side. While serving as a Compensation and Benefits manager for a large international employer, she had first-hand experience working with healthcare plans in both the U.S. and several European countries.
For the past few years much of her time has been spent working on health care reform. With the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Ruthann has been teaching courses for insurance agents, accountants and doctors on the components and impact of Reform. A noted expert, Ruthann speaks throughout the country on PPACA to employers and has partnered with national organizations and large insurance carriers to consult on health care reform. She currently serves on a PPACA regulatory response team, a variety of Exchange Work groups, has participated in writing a PPACA certification course as well as written a variety of white papers on health care reform. In addition to presenting courses on PPACA, Ruthann has written and presents courses on ERISA Compliance, Medicare, Reform & Risk Management, and HIPAA/HiTech.
Ruthann is a member of SHRM, IIAB, International Foundation for Employee Benefits Plans, as well as serving as the Chair for NAHU Professional Development.

Southern Arizona Association of health Underwirters (SAAHU) recently received the Pacesetter Award at the National Association of Health Underwriters’ (NAHU) 82nd Annual Convention and Exhibition in Las Vegas, NV.
SAAHU was recognized for the Pacesetter Award. The criteria for receiving this award includes attendance at national and regional meetings, chapter management, hosting local meetings and events, communications, membership activities and growth, public service projects, media relations efforts, and continuing education.

SAAHU has met requirements to receive the Silver Seal of Certification, a Chapter Certification Program that recognizes excelling chapters all year long. Recognition is based on criteria satisfaction in various areas. To earn the Silver Seal of Certification chapters must satisfy at least six of nine criteria. Chapters must meet requirements each year in order to maintain the certification. SAAHU's goal is to be recertified each and every year.
